The Last weeks of summer vacation

I only have four more weeks unitl my summer vacation end. During these last few weeks, I have a workshop, a trip to Tennessee and the hope to relax. So far our summer has been rather mild (not weather) but mild in events activities. We just wrapped up a visit with Jason's mom for two weeks. it was nice because she was here for the 4th of July and was able to experience the wonderful firework show that Jason puts on.

Jason's supply of fireworks

We spent the days shopping or with the kids at the lakefront.

A visit to Gatorland- Alec sat on a gator! It was a nice relaxing visit- but now I feel the dread of school starting soon.

So much going on- no time to blog

OK, so it's been 4 months since my last blog. I am still so busy that blogging is the last thing on my mind. So to catch you up on our life. Hmm, where to start. Asher is now almost 16 months old, Alec is turning 6 next week. We already celebrated his birthday early. The school year has ended. Alec is successfully moving onto First grade, I am successfully returning to Neptune Middle School for another year!!!Alec and I were both participants in my cousins wedding in may. Alec was the ring bearer and I was a bridesmaid. Alec and Asher stole the show at the wedding.

Since school has let out, I have been busy getting a list of to do stuff done. I have cleaned out the garage, organized it for Jason as an early Father's day gift. Yes, a car actually can be parked in there with the door closed. I am also catching up on all my scrapbooking. I have about 5 years to work on. I have hardly made a dent and I am running out of time.

We also received our dog, Castan, back. My brother was taking care of him for us while we accustomed to a new house, new child, and put a fence in the yard. Castan is slowly losing excess weight, and getting walks daily.

Asher's Birthday- he's ONE!

Today is Asher's birthday- he is 1. He has come a long way from a year ago. I call him my monkey. He is always climbing into or onto everything. Likes to take everything apart, and sometimes put things back. If he isn't supposed to have it, he wants it. he is fascinated with electrical plugs, and can crawl like the dickens. He has just started to walk and is getting steadier every day.

He exhausts- I feel as if I am in labor all over again. Instead it is just all the daily hassles of laundry, dishes, and the mess that no one can seem to help mom with. I almost rather being stuck in labor and then being stuck in the hospital for a few days then being stuck in the house with a mess and the family. Amazing how mother is the only person capableof doing everything.(I am venting- can you tell).

We are planning on going to the fair and then back home for cake and ice cream. We were supposed to have a few friends over for cake and ice cream, but Alec, Asher and I are all infectious with a cold. I didn't see the importance of having friends over and sharing the germs. Hopefully the fair will be nice and not too busy ( yeah right the last day it is in town). More pictures will come.

New Child? Maybe?

OK, last year while I was at the high school teaching, I somewhat adopted three sisters, who were in need of rides from school to home, occasional shopping trips or advice. I really took to these girls. Its unfortunate that their own mother walked out on them, but obviously their father is too much (he is a long story in itself). Well the oldest of the sisters, Elizabeth, is a freshman at the local community college. She received 75% state funded scholarship, but her father wants to move out of state (even longer story). So now we are considering allowing the oldest sister to move in with us until she can get a job and save money to be on her own. Its a huge risk, financially, (she can't afford to pay us anything). However, she would help out with the kids, cooking, cleaning and anything else. Our privacy would take a back seat, but this is only for a year at the minimum. Who knows how long it would last, but I would be on her like white on rice to ensure that she was looking for a job, etc... This is just a hard decision to make, because I want to help her out so much but (my own job security is so unsure right now). Goodness, who knew they wouldn't need teachers one day! i am pretty sure we will take her in, it will just tight when we have family in town, since she will take our guest room. But I hate for her to throw her only chance of a decent future away because her father is selfish (again long story). So-- I am possibly having a girl, she is 19 years old, Her name is Elizabeth, she is very smart, pretty and I know one day she will be a famous engineer!

OK, So when I started this blog, I was hoping I would be able to commit to it and not let it lag. However, I have already failed. Its been hectic since the holidays. School resumed January 5th and we jumped straight into FCAT (Florida Testing)practice. My 8th graders have been writing non-stop for 3 weeks. This week we will be taking a short break for a few days to let the mind relax- that is if they show some improvement. I am not looking for them to all be the next J.K. Rowling.

However, to be able to write, focused, organized, elaborated essay is all I ask.
On the home front, Jason and I are trying to organize the house. We bought new IKEA bookshelf's for the office, purged the office of old files and junk and rearranged to a more organized, welcoming look. The Laundry also received a more organized style with more shelving and removal of junk. Next we are purging Alec's room of any unneeded toys(Nothing that Asher won't need). We plan on holding a much needed garage sale to unload the burden of too much stuff.

Alec lost another tooth, he spends most of his time, fishing with Jason or playing games. We just bought all new bikes for all of us. We are planning on spending more time outside (getting into shape). Asher is always trying to be a big help. As long as you tell him to put things away. Whether we are loading the dryer or dishwasher, he is pretty good at offer his assistance. As I type this blog, Asher is crawling around the desk in circles. He will crawl under the desk, get stuck trying to come out the other side (his diapered butt is too big to fit under side of the desk).

I will try to keep on top of this blogging. I do enjoy it, but find to find time!

wii Fun

After a day of nonstop wii, we finally broke from the monotony and went clearance shopping! YEAH! We bought a brand new Christmas tree for next year (our old one is getting, well old). some new lights, a few new decorations and a new wreath for the door. All in all it was pretty rewarding (for me). I'll tell you one thing, the wii is crazy. I love it, one of the best technological devices we have purchased, but after one day of yoga, bowling and boxing. I am sore! I think my husband and I have played it more than Alec (and it is his gift)!
Today as I watched my husband play wii with Alec, I felt very blessed. I was in the kitchen making chocolate covered pretzels, (while our youngest, Asher, rifled through the pantry pulling all the popcorn bags out of the box and dumping them on the floor). I felt blessed because I have a wonderful husband, who is an excellent father. I'll admit when your child ask you to play with him and it involves the wii, its not hard to comply. However, when your fully involved in play with praise and support. It means a lot. Unfortunately in my job (teacher), I am witness to underprivileged children. Not just financially. I mean they are underprivileged in all ways regarding love, naturing, any type of parenting. I realized how lucky I was to have such an involved husband. But as you can see from the picture, he can be a child himself. That is why I love him so much.
